Canadian Experience
Class (CEC)

All Economic Class programs aim to attract immigrants to Canada who are able to establish themselves financially. Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which is part of the Economic Class, is managed by Express Entry. Currently, processing takes approximately 6 months after an Invitation to Apply is received.
  1. Within 36 months of your application date, you must have at least one year of Canadian full-time professional, technical, or skilled work experience. It does not count if you are self-employed or have work experience while a full-time student.
  2. You will need to have work experience in either a managerial, professional, technical or skilled trades occupation gained in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job categories. Your work experience can be in 1 or more of these categories.
  3. Depending on the job, meet the minimum language score of CLB 5, or CLB 7, on the Canadian Language Benchmark.
  4. You may plan to live and work in another province than Quebec. Quebec Experience Class is available to individuals with Quebec work experience and who intend to reside in Quebec.
After being selected from the Express Entry Pool, and given the Invitation to Apply (ITA), the Canadian immigration process requires that all candidates and their dependents undergo medical examinations and security clearances.
Canadian Experience Class provides students with Canadian work experience and the fastest path to permanent residence. International graduates can stay in Canada after completing a course or program of study at a Canadian educational institute and are eligible for post-graduate work permits. After a minimum of one year of Canadian work experience, a graduate may be considered eligible to apply for the CEC.
